The use of candles goes back to 3,000 B.C. in those times Egyptians used candles with wicks. The Romans were recognized with developing candles with wicks before that time. The Western civilization used candles taken from tallow, animal fat. In the middle ages Europe began using beeswax canldes. Beeswax candles burned cleanly without a smoky flame. It also had an aroma that was enjoyable rather than the acid aroma tallow candles would produce. By the 13th century candle making had turned into a craft in England and France. Candle maker would travel from home to home to sell their candles or would sell from a small candle shop.
Today the use of candles has grown to be a large business industry with many different kinds of candles being produced.
